West Penwith

Sennen - the wind coming off the sea isn't cold although we're into November. The surf is roaring and I can hear an unidentified bird in the distance. On this gloriously sunny Sunday morning I'm looking out at Cape Cornwall and The Brisons, taking lungfuls of pristine sea air.
It's beautiful - so why don't I make work about it? We're down here several times a year and I sketch my surroundings, visit galleries filled with coastal paintings but usually bring urban themed pieces in progress with me.

I'm surrounded by pattern and colour which I record diligently.
Maybe one day it will fuel a body of work but, as yet, it hasn't lit that spark in my imagination.

Exhibitions

Despite the challenges of moving I have continued to make work for exhibitions.
The main things I am involved in this year run concurrently - isn't that always the way?

Prism are once again exhibiting at Hoxton Arches.
Much easier to get to than you'd think - among other routes there is a train from Clapham Junction, Hoxton station is just a few yards from the gallery. Also nearby is the Geffrye Museum.

For the first time TEN are participating in Surrey Artists' Open Studios at The Brew House in Guildford House Gallery.
Also at Guildford House this week are the North Surrey group of the Society of Designer Craftsmen so lots to see at one venue.

Hope to see you at either or both of these.

Back

No excuses but an explanation for the lack of posts - I have moved home and studio after almost 30 years in the same place.
The builders have finished and my studio is very nearly as I want it.
Added to this my retail business has gone from strength to strength and it's taken a while to delegate some of the work.
So now I am ready to create in a much larger and more organised space.
