The 100 Day Project

On the 22nd February I started The 100 Day Project - the aim being to post daily updates of my creative progress or inspirations. I'm keeping up so far but it's only the first week!
There's a lot going on for me over that 100 days - completing work for the Prism 'Warped' show at The Art Pavilion, Mile End 20th April - 1st May, holidays to the Jurassic coast and the Hebrides and preparation for Surrey Artists' Open Studios over the first 3 weekends in Jun - so plenty to document.
Daily posting are on instagram @paulenecattle and facebook Paulene Cattle - Artist

 Moving On

Unbelievably it has been 3 years since my last post! And what a 3 years - a global pandemic, an unrelated personal bereavement, an extremely debilitating virus (but not THE virus) and the sale of our business which means now there's more time and headspace to concentrate on artwork.

In that time there has been some limited creativity and I've participated in several group exhibitions -

Prism 'In Search of Possibilities' October 21 (postponed from May 20) and Prism 'Untold' April 22 both at The Art Pavilion, Mile End

TENartists 'Context' at Guildford Cathedral summer 21 and TENartists 'conneXion' at Denbies Wine Estate June 22

Combining Projects

Work over the last few weeks has involved two different projects - researching and getting a few ideas on paper for the next Studio 21 project 'Addressing Space' and starting my book for a pass the parcel type sketchbook swap with four artist friends.
In order to avoid confusion (in my head!) I began the sketchbook with the same theme as for Studio 21. I am exploring my workspace and how I use it so my sketchbook is titled Workroom and I started filling the first of the allocated 4 pages with interpretations of my exploratory sketches.

An initial drawing for Addressing Space work

The other participants will continue with their take on my theme, working on new pages and also back into the sheets others have worked on. The idea is that each sketchbook will passed around the 5 artists twice.

It's an fascinating project and I have already sent my book off and received another created in an entirely different style to my own - so exciting! Can't wait for the 20th of the month when they are all posted on again, who knows what the postman will bring?

All Done and Dusted

Yesterday both Prism's 'Fragility' at Hoxton Arches and TEN's Open Studio in Reigate came to an end. Thank you to everyone who visited.
The next outing for the Prism show is at the RBSA gallery Birmingham in October.
TEN will be at Denbies Winery Dorking Surrey next summer but there may be something before that - watch this space!
In the meantime I'm in the middle of a huge studio spring clean, it hasn't been fully sorted since the move over 4 years ago - sadly a ruthless cull is required, need to make enough space to work.

Shown below is a detail of 'Hidden Strength' - if you missed it at Hoxton then Birmingham will be it's next outing.

Surrey Artists' Open Studios

It's that time of year again!
For the second year TEN will be exhibiting in Reigate. We set up today, it's looking fab and the vast majority is new work - what busy bees we've all been over the last year.
I'll be demonstrating embedding fabrics in needlefelt on Saturday 1st June and will also be there on Sunday 2nd and Thursday 6th.
Everyone welcome.

Prism Exhibition

I have work in the annual Prism exhibition which opens this week at Hoxton Arches. It's always a varied collection of the best of contemporary textile art in it's broadest sense.
There will also be another chance to see it in October at the RBSA Birmingham.
